The Academy allows you to set completion requirements for certain sections, using a drop-down in the section settings titled Learning Commitment.
The Learning Commitment setting is available on the following section types:
- Self Paced
- Session
- Group Session

You can select from the following options:
-
Required – must complete all required learning in the section to be marked as complete
-
Optional – completion of the section is not required to complete the program successfully
-
Recommended – completion of the section is not required to complete the program successfully
-
Elective – a learner must complete a certain number of elective sections to meet completion requirements
Required Sections
New sections are set to Required by default. This means that the learner is required to complete all required learning within that section to meet the completion requirements for the program. You can, however, create Optional learning activities within a required section.
Optional and Recommended Sections
For Optional and Recommended sections, the learning in each section is not required for successful completion of the course.
These sections will show a label in learner view to indicate to the learner that this section is not a requirement for course completion. The progress indicator on the left of the section will show as green, meaning the learner has met the completion requirements for the section.

Elective Sections
Elective sections allow learners to choose their learning from a number of sections.
For example, you could have four different sections covering four different topics, and the learner needs to complete two of the sections to be marked as complete.
In the settings for an Elective section, the number of elective sections in the program will be prefilled (in the screenshot below, you can see that the program has four electives in total). You can choose how many electives the learner is required to complete.

Once the learner has completed the required number of electives, all elective sections will be marked as complete.
